We considered getting a cake to celebrate the 10,000th Passat built in Volkswagen’s new Chattanooga facility, but then we realized that it would be really hard to find that many candles. Instead, we gathered around Passat number 10,000, a white TDI clean diesel with a premium chrome package, for the photo you see below.
This is a milestone, but like any proud parents, we love Passats numbers 1through 9,999 just as much as we love this car, and we can’t wait to build many, many more. In fact, we’re on schedule to build 150,000 a year right here in Tennessee.
The all-new 2012 Passat goes on sale in mid-September.

10,000 down, but cannot deliver a car that I have had vin# Bought, and told it would be delivered 2 or 3 weeks ago now, supposedly in the depot ready to be transported!
Too bad they can’t deliver what the customer wants. VW is trying to increase market share in America but don’t have cars to sell. My VW dealer said ” VW is all screwed up in delivering cars”. Can’t get the entry models that they advertise. Guess I will be shopping somplace else.
