As we get closer to joining the community of Chattanooga, Tennessee with our new assembly plant for the 2012 Passat, we decided to take a moment to reflect on the concept of community itself. We’re proud of the communities our brand inspires. It’s in our DNA. We have our Beetle communities and our Bus fans and people who simply identify with the VW brand. And now, we’ve got Chattanooga.
Since we love our communities, we decided we’d help make sure they’re taken care of, literally. How? We worked with local law enforcement departments to provide them with custom, technologically advanced, and stylish Volkswagen vehicles in which to do their crime fighting. That’s how.
In October 2010, we presented the City of Chattanooga and Hamilton County’s respective law enforcement departments with two custom-made Jetta SportWagen TDI vehicles each. These vehicles are equipped with VW’s 2.0L TDI clean diesel four-cylinder engine that produces an impressive 236 ft.-lbs. of torque and can achieve up to 42 miles per gallon on the highway*. And to make sure the officers are well prepared for anything thrown their way, the vehicles also feature 225/40 18” Goodyear Eagle GT All Season tires mounted over Volkswagen’s own 18-inch Goal wheel package.
In other words, to the residents of our new community: we got your back.
Make sure to be on the lookout for the all-new, redesigned 2012 Volkswagen Passat, which debuted at the 2011 North American International Auto Show this morning. For more on this story and photos of the custom-made Jetta SportWagen TDI vehicles, click the link:
