In the first spot for The 21st Century VW Beetle, cutting-edge CGI creative goes entomological, creating a photo-real lush kingdom where the Black Beetle rules – out-running, out-navigating and out-performing everything in its path.
The commercial airs this Sunday during Super Bowl XLV, but here’s a look at the events of the not-so-urban jungle turned VW Beetle playground. The performance-based spot kicks off communications about the 21st Century Beetle, which, true to the commercial, will take the VW icon in a decidedly high-performance direction. The car has been completely redesigned with emphasis on aggressive body styling—a change that is evident by the stylized silhouette at the end of the commercial.
The ad was created with the help of the Mill, a London-based production company known for their Oscar-winning work on the film Gladiator. It features The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion giving a spirited rendition of the classic rocker “Black Betty.” Enjoy.

I hope that when this comes out it has a Baja model so it can rock out off-road. That would be pretty sweet.
I agree with Joshua, The a “Baja” edition would be quite interesting ( make it in a diesel too! )
Looks nice, just wish they would send off the final edoitin with a better engine, like the 200hp gti turbo or maybe even the new tdi. People tend to forget that around the millennium, this car was an icon, a sort of retro-style with (then) current technology that was hugely popular. Shame they didn’t quite keep it fresh like the Mini, but then VW’s recent management has been all about becoming a mainstream brand, they want to sell Jettas not this.
Hello VW!

The Darth Vader kid should unveil the New Beetle on Oprah……Win.Win.
Awesome Ad, but after having a look around at the new look. I don’t think it’s great. It’s a further depart from the original and is starting to look more like a Chrysler PT Cruiser
I Kind of agree.. it does have some characteristics of the pt. cruiser.. but if you really look close at the lines of the car.. they were attempting to make it look more like the “original”
If they really wanted to pull it off.. they should have moved the tail lights down lower…take another look and see what i mean.. lol
New Electric Beetle design.
Big mistake changing exterior of 2013 electric Beetle. I am a male buyer. The new design you are experimenting with can be called any thing, just not a beetle. Your designers & CEO should be fired if they change the design. Stick to your demographic. The Electric engine is good its about time!

I just saw some pics from the NY auto show and I never would have thought this but I actually like the VW Bug again. The last car was so girlie I wouldn’t even consider it, but the new style reminds me of early 911 Porsche designs. I can’t wait to get more info on it when it becomes available!
that “turbo” lettering it’s the same… Well.. I think Porsche made the 911 inspired on the beetle
It’s good to see the 911 spirit coming alive again
I love the new design. I think it is sleek and eye catching… I have always been a Beetle fan and this one is by far my favorite design. I love the classic it is a classic and always will be. The last model was quite feminine but still nice. The baja is just badass and this one is fresh.
BION I’m imrpsesed! Cool post!
I believe that the Other Beatles were just Normal American Cars,
The beetle Sliding past the Centipede means Its so fast it can out run trains,
Also It shows that The Japanese And The Asian Companies Struggling with Car productions
The Running against the ants shows that the beetle is smaller that your normal car
Therefore Showing Many Pros To the beetle.
And All that from the Commercial
And Showing that The Beetle is made for Off road as well
Thats Jesus Signing off!

I’m VERY disapointed with the new 2012 Beetle, and the 1998-2010 models, because Volkswagen should have used the Porsche Boxer platform with the engine in the BACK where it belong like the orginal Beetles did. I will NEVER buy one for that reason alone. If Porsche can build a car with a watercooled engine in the back so can Volkswagen. Again VERY disapointed with VW new Beetle, and this is why the new 2012 Beetle will have poor sales numbers world wide. Sad, but true.
Good luck selling a 2 door Golf platform, with a Beetle body, because you’re going to need it.
